The Adventures of Mohawk Man
So, I let Jeff take the boys to get their haircuts whilst Abbie and I go shopping.
I come home to find...
THIS -Now, it is true that when he asked for a mohawk during the schoolyear I said, "let's wait for summer." Now what I MEANT was "lets wait indefinitely". Okay, so when begged I said that it was okay for now. I guess I envisioned a smaller "hawk" with more "mow". Here's the back view. So, do you think he looks like a little rocker? It's pretty funny to see him with it, but let me ASSURE you that it will not last for long.
Hmmm.... okay, now for a humerous story to accompany those rather unique pictures.
So, Mohawk Man (MM) and I were making cookies today for dessert.
They were "healthy" cookies - had peanut butter, grape nuts, oats and other less good stuff.
So... when we're done he asks to lick the bowl.
I rarely okay this due to the whole raw egg thing.
But this has very little egg in it so I say okay.
I hear some funny noises, look behind me, see Max's whole face in the bowl.
I say "what ARE you doing there MM?"
And he says.....
"Mom, my head won't fit in here so I can't lick the bottom!"

OMG!! What was Jeff thinking??
Max was much cuter pre MM.
Thanks for your input on my invites. They are stapled and in the mail. I can't believe it's only one week to Graduation!! I need to go stock up on Kleenex!

I guess I should look at this and count myself blessed that Reese is balking at getting his haircut at all, since his love for playing RockBand has turned him into a bit of a metal head (thanks in this department go largely to Aunt Chrissy). I'm going to try to get him to get it trimmed a bit before Graduation next week. I agree with Deb and Spinny on this...Egad is right, and Max was sooo cuter pre-MM. But no matter what he's a cutie and after all, it will grow back. If he gives a hard time about it, just point out the cons of having the mohawk... you know, like not being able to fit his head into the cookie dough bowl! ;)
Hey! Wait a minute! This was discussed ahead of time and agreed to by both parents. This was not Jeff being sent to get the boys haircuts and not quite following the wife's instructions. Truth be told, this is the required 8 year old boy summer haircut in Michigan. With the haircut, you get free admission into Monster Truck Pulls, county fairs, flea markets, soccer camps, and state parks.
Hey, its only Hair!! At least he doesn't want to dye it pink/purple/ goth!!!! (Not yet anyways!)
Lets celebrate individualism! My oldest wants one...hmmmmm...Poor DH always getting thrown under the bus....
Kimmy
PS. Also required attire in North Carolina- he just needs a wifebeater (Shirt of course!) or a long rattail!
OK, so for the first time ever and probably the last time ever, I am a teensy weensy bit thankful that you are all out there in Michigan only because my darling Zachary was begging me for the same look a few months back and I said NO WAY. So, now at least Zach does not see Max and accuse me of being the meanest Mommy ever. So, now this should be taken care of BEFORE your arrival to CT, RIGHT???? I think it it very cool that our boys have a personality of their own. I guess I am the one that is not nurturing it. My kid will be the one in therapy because I did not let him get that mohawk when he was 7. The moral of the story? You are a better Mom than I am! Sorry I have not written in your blog lately. Things have been so busy around here. My sister from Chicago was in town with her family and we threw a surprise party for my Dad's 70th at my house...that was fun! Anyway, counting down the days until we see you all and your little rocker dude! Miss you.

Seriously? I can't tell if you are serious or joking. Hummmm....
Anyway, it does look like a fun way to start the summer (I also think that you do get good parent points to be banked up for future use.) and I also thought it was funny that he was so inexperienced with the "Licking the Bowl Procedure" that he stuck his whole head in!
Wow. And double wow. I hope that style is not the "in" thing when Ty gets older. You know that's going to be a look he regrets when he starts dating and you offer to bring out the family pictures to show the girlfriend....
My sister's friend also did this to her son. Or actually, allowed the barber to do it to him. And my sister wondered, how do I respond nicely....
Well, I gave her a link to your blog to express herself here. And DH, I would have vetoed this idea while he was sitting in the chair. For goodness sakes...you need to be seen with the boy until it grows out. I think all he's missing is the earring...(my sister's in-laws have pierced their very young boys'ears. Definitely WT!)
Love the pictures! Talk with you soon. I need to update my blog too!
